I have tried a new battery in my remote (it was getting weak) and now I cant get it to program. They say the battery is good and all the contact points seem to be hitting fine. I bough another remote today from a local salvage yard and it wont program either?
Where can I start troubleshooting?
Im cycling the key 3 times to make the door locks/hatch cycle, then holding lock/unlock for a minute but nothing ever happens.

Dunno...did you remember to remove the radio fuse?

Yep. The locks cycled like they are supposed to after I cycled the key 3 times.
What picks up the signal from the remote??

if you have another chevy, see if you can program the remotes to the other, just to be certain it is your car with the problem. im not sure how the reciever works for the remote, but it sounds like the bcm (body control module) is working since the locks cycle.

Just a guess...make sure the alarm shock sensor is connected...may have something to do with it...????

Found this in my helms under Transmitter Synchronization:
Resync may be necessary due to the security method used by the remote keyless entry system...under the following conditions...
Battery in transmitter very weak
Battery in transmitter has been replaced
In order to resynchronize the transmitter with the BCM, stand within 5 feet of the vehicle...simultaneously press and hold the lock and unlock button on the transmitter for 7 seconds...the door locks should cycle and the park lamps should flash in order to confirm resynchronization.
Worth a try...

That sensor has had one or 2 of its wires tapped for something before. Maybe they were spliced too deep and cut the power. I'll check that later and see if thats it.

Hope you find it - FWIW it's my understanding that if the remotes are working fine, then the shock sensor is disconnected cause it went bad, the rest of the system still functions normally.
