Stereo & Electronics - okay to remove child safety hooks to mount amp there??

In the 00-02 f-bodies there are those two latches on the deck in the hatch, I think they're hooks for a child's seat. I just wondering if it's safe to remove them? There's a allen type screw holding them down, but are they holding anything else underneath? I know the gas tank is there, and I don't want to remove them if they are important. Can I use that place to mount an amp?

Just used for child safety seats, pull em out, and throw in your amp

any more opinions, has anyone else removed those hooks?

I took them off to put in some sound deadener. No problems. But they are attached with trox bolts, not allen screws.

I pulled them, and mounted what is basically a painted, wooden box - that has all my amps, crossovers, power distro, cap. on it. I bolted the bottom of the amp rack into the remaining holes. I also use one of the bolt holes/bolt for my grounds.
