So.. I bought my camaro and it didnt have a remote for the alarm. But it does have the factory shock sensor located in the trunk near the spare tire.

I called the dealer to see how much a replacement would be, they said $70! Yea... i wasnt going to pay that much for 1 remote. I went on ebay and theres one for $20.

Question: If I buy the one from ebay do I still need to take the remote to the dealer so they can code it or something? I know how to program the remote, I'm just wondering if its just better to buy the one from the dealer in case they charge me to code the transmitter.

I'm pretty sure you can program it yourself, but not 100% sure. Here is a link to a howto http://www.installuniversity.com/install_university/index.htm

Directions are in your owner's manual. If you don't have one they can be downloaded.

Most cars can have up to 4 fobs programmed to them at any given time. So long as your keyless entry system is functional, buying 4 of the proper remotes off of ebay should pose no issue at all.

The dealer cost sounds near what they told me. I bought one on eBay and did it all myself from the info in the owner's manual.

I really enjoy having it.
