Stereo & Electronics - Questions about Monsoon system..... crossovers?

Does the Monsoon system use any passive/active crossovers for the mid-bass and subwoofer? Does the amp have any crossovers built in for the low pass or do the factory subs get a full range signal?

The reason I ask, is that I want to add a 10" powered Bazooka in the rear, and use the output wires to the factory sail panel subs as speaker level inputs to the new sub, but I'd like to add capacitors (bass blockers) to the sail panel subs to keep them from sounding so bad so they can still be retained and used......

:thinker:

The amp already filters the signal to the subs so if you add a bass blocker you will basically get nothing. Also, the wires to the subs are speaker level not line level.

I meant speaker level.................... but I wonder at what frequency the stock system filters the factory subs to? If it just rolls off slowly at 150hz/200hz or so you could still just use a passive to filter off up to 80/100hz range to still have some midbass out of them.......

Tap into the wires from the head unit, before the amp, for your amp signal. Saves one layer of distortion.

Get rid of the stock sail panel subs. You won't need them anymore with the sub.

Best guess is the cut-off frequency is between 1 to 2 KHz. So yes, you would still get sound out of it with a 100Hz bass-blocker.
