Ok I have been looking to buy a T/A for a while now. Just put my car for sale 2 weeks ago in the local want ad. Yesterday a dealer near me just got a Collectors Edition T/A(yellow and black one) with the NHRA package. They are asking 27,999. To me is completely rediculous.

It does have 22,900 miles on it and is completely stock. I just went into the dealership today, drove it. I told them the book value for the car is 22-24k tops and how i can get a TA with low miles like that for 17-20k so im not about to pay 5k-7k for a color. Im an enthusiast, not a collector.

Right as i walked out on the saleman of course their manager came and stopped me at the door. He told me he'd call me in a day to see what he can do. What I wanna know is what do yous think is a good price?

uhm thats not a 35th ann. car, its a special edition car. 35 anniversarys were the camaros. trans am didnt debut till 69', not 67.

its the 35th anniv of the firebird, but they just called it CETA. 20k seems reasonable, and 17k would be better, i would look around on EBAY and Autotrader and see if you can find some other CETA cars. use their selling price for ammo against the dealership price. some dealerships are out of touch with reality and are asking way more than the cars are worth.

well although i am bias (i hae the car) i can tell you right now that the 27 there asking for is right on par for what the dealer should start at however i would think that you should be able to get the car for 25,000 out the door if you have a decent down payment....although i am young and not a true collector i was recently offered 29,000 for my car and happily said NO my car barely has 20,000 mi now and i bought it with less then 13,000 from my friends dads dealership so you could say i got a good deal but i have watched these cars go time and again from my area (chicagoland) for in between 24,000 and 28,000 depending on location and miles and condition idk in my opinion its worth it but to some they ju want the ls1 so its up to you in the end i cant spend your money for you

I own a CETA. Make sure it is a true Collector Edition.
None were made with the NHRA Package on them.

I would say that with that many miles on it, it should go for around $23,000.

Also make sure you get all the original floor mats, and trophy mat with it.

Good Luck!

It is worth whatever you are willing to pay for it. I can tell you that from a purist viewpoint it is not a highly desireable car. It's unique colors do not speak of anything traditional to pontiac. If you like yellow cars with black wheels then buy it. It will still haul ass and look bad ass going down the road.
I assume you also ask because resale down the road is an option for you. It will retain its value, but generally speaking car are piss poor investments. Buy a car that you like and can afford. Don't get desperate and buy any car just to get a ta.

Thanks for the responses. Its just hard to decide. I do like the car but even if they do come down to say 23k its still steep to me. I was originally looking for a SOM one but wanted to try this option just because I could trade in my car.

For 23k though, Ive seen complete bolt on, ported blower cobras going for sale for 23k-24k. Im sure they will call me back, the car has been at the dealer for only 2 days. Im going to let them hold onto the car a little while until they realize not too many people are in the market for that paticular car.

At first they tried to say they could give me 11k dollars trade in for my car, then when I walked out it was up to 14k for trade in which was descent.

I don't know what it's worth or if it's a good deal. But it's not likely that he'll call you. If the dealer could give you that price he probably wouldn't let you leave.
