So I decided to do this before anything else, for some more thump, I have the sub and amp and I made a box, wiring harness.
So I have everything hooked up
but the (I think its called this) In line covertor(the thing to convert the stock head unit to RCA's)
well it did not come with instructions and it has 5 wires
White
White with Black stripe
Gray
Gray with Black stripe
and Brown
Now what does the Brown go to ??

The Brown on the factory wiring is for diming when head lights are on
is it a ground?
or the Pink-power anenna
Yellow-Ignition controll
Orange- Battery power
which one???

then I am guessing the whites and grays go to speaker wire, would the left front and right front speakers be the best to hook to?

thanks

I would probably hook them up to the rear channels. That's usually where subs are hooked up.

As for the brown wire, I haven't a clue what that would be for. If it were green or black, I'd say it would be to ground the converter enclosure. I do not beleive the converter needs power, but I could be mistaken.

to the rear, that sounds better,as for the Brown wire if no one knows then could it just be left unhooked?

I hooked mine up to the rear speakers. I also placed the module in the rear of the car that way I didnt have to cram that box behind the head unit and run wires and cable throught out the whole dang car. It worked awesome though.
And I do recall leaving a wire free. Its been some years but I think it was the brown one.

I went the same way you did and I was still never happy with the way the stock speakers sounded either even with the sub. I tried replacing them with Alpine 2 ways as noted somewhere in the archives and I still could not find a balance between music/talk, etc.

I finally replaced the Delco amp with one that takes high level inputs and has a sub RCA out so the was no need for a converter and it finally sounds right!

IMHO if I were going to do anything again, the FIRST thing I would do is eliminate the Delco amp and stock speakers!

BTW if you install Component speakers in the front doors then you can reuse all the factory wiring by putting the bandpass units where the Delco amp was! And there are no 2 way 6 1/2 speakers that sound as good as good components!!!
