Is it possible to keep the steering wheel controls and go with after market head unit??

As it says in the FAQ sticky at the top of the forum - you can use a PAC SWI-X adapter as long as your aftermarket head unit comes with a remote control.

not hoping to sound to ignoroant about this stuff, but what exactly is a PAC SWI-X adapter?

if u got to best buy they can get it for u! my dad did the same thing
