That's right. My buddy told me about a black 95 Trans Am, LT1,Leather,6-speed for $1,500.00. It was running and driving as of yesterday but will not crank today. The owner said it was probably the MAF or the Opti. The title is reconstructed and the front cap was replaced and spray painted black but I fiqured it was worth 1,500.00. This guy was a tough one to negoiate with.
"$1,500.00 dollars huh?" I asked.
"Hell I'll take less that for it. I'd take $800.00 for it." he said.
"Sold!"
Now what would be the best thing to do with it? Part it out? Make it a track whore? Put a for sale sign in the window?

you could VERY quickly make your $ back selling just a hand full of parts. but if it has a striaght frame, and isnt tore the fuck up. build a motor for it and drive it or track whore it.

Most likely the opti. Even if it isnt, and it isnt something huge, you got yourself a helluva a deal. Fix it up for a full blown drag car or make it a toy-around car.

I could probably sell it for 1,500-2,000. I'm going to have a little fun in it when I get home.

doesnt crank? at all doesnt turn over? then its prob a starter or a bad connection with the shitty side mount terminals. if its cranking and not fireing. start with the fuel pressure. if it has that. then its prob the opti/ or ignition coil. check to see if your gettin spark. if you are then it might be compression if your gettin spark and fuel. but if no spark its more then likely a opti or a wire going to/from it.

Wow, the car is worth more just as a pile of parts much less an actual car.
Nice find!!!!! :)
Do you live near Atlanta?

I think it is the coil. It turns over but doesn't fire. I disconnected the coil wire from the opti and put a spark plug in the end. I turned it over but the spark plug didn't arch. Is that a correct way to check it? Doesn't the coil supply the power to the opti and not vice versa? Tomorrow I'll check the ground wire on the coil, the coil wire and the fuel pressure. It was running saturday and after he killed the engine it wouldn't start again. Dunno
