My brother recently dropped his 355 SB into his 85 Firebird. The thing was a 2.8 V6 with T5 tranny. He has retired both for a mild 355 backed by a Chevy Turbo 350 3 speed. He is still using the stock 3.42 10 bolt, stock "Performance" suspension, stock Driveshaft.
Here is his engine details (from what I know)
87-91 2 Bolt Chevy 350 Truck Block bored .030 over
Cast Crank & Hyper. Pistons
Stock 5.7 Rods
Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap Intake
Holley 650 Vaccum Adv (I think)
GMPP 1.94 1.6 Vortec Cast Iron Heads(modded to fit .500" Lift)
some cheap hyd flat tappet summit cam with around .500" lift
1.5 Rockers (GM Stock)
open element 14" Air Cleaner for now (gettin a shaker)
Hedman LT's
Doesnt have the rest of the exhaust yet but going to have no cats for sure.
Any guesses on engine power?
Any recommendations on timing??? I think he is using an HEI dist??
Let me know what you think about the engine. I think he built it for a little over 2000 dollars. Wont be running for w few more weeks but I'm sure he will scrape some money to get it dynoed and some timeslips too.
