Stereo & Electronics - Remote starter inquiry

When I bought my 2002 Z conv. it had 28,000 miles & a high dollar non oem remote key fob with remote start. Probably because the original owner wanted to warm up the engine to stop the loud piston slap. Anyway, after about 200 miles of bliss the check engine light comes on. Dealer says the cats are clogged due to the remote start and even showed me the bulletin. They replaced them under warrenty but scratched & dented my qtr. panel. Now I would really like to have a remote starter for the same reason. any solutions out there? :lurk:

I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out how a remote starter will cause your cat's to clog, and a normal start wouldn't...so if anyone can explain how, please do. The only way i could see it would be the fact that it sits for so long idling. IF that is the situation, I know Viper/DEI remote starts are programmable to turn off after something like 15 and 30 minutes, i used to have one, don't remember what the timer was.
