Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - sbc starter alignment problems

I have a early 350 block and a 350 trans, the starter bolt pattern is staggered the bendix only goes out and engages the very end of the flex plate it's like the nose on the starter is to short. I cannot find a starter with a longer nose or i'm not looking correctly driveing me crasy please help

I had similar troubles with my small block. I used a powermaster mini starter from Summit racing. Added a couple of shims and all my alignment problems were solved. I did have some trouble with the headers getting the starter hot and it would have to cool before you could start it.
