Stereo & Electronics - No bass after removing blown speaker

So I'm pretty much clueless as to what happened so I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable can help me out. I'm pretty sure I have the Monsoon system but not 100%. Anyways so I had really nice clean sounding bass in my car after replacing the door and hatch(custom job) speakers with the Polkdb675's except for the problem that every once in a while the passenger sail panel speaker would come on and start rattling and sounding like crap, and I will also add the one on the drivers side never comes on or anything, so I thought both were blown since two of my other speakers in the car were too before I replaced them and the passenger side just had a bad connection or something so today I finally got around to taking that one out and turn it on real low at first just to make sure all is well and sure enough no rattles but then I turn it up and I have like no bass. Now don't get me wrong its not completely gone but lets just say I've heard PLENTY of stock systems that sound a lot better than it does now :bang: What happened to my sound quality, can the factory subs add that much bass

Well here's my one suggestion for the night and I'll see what yall think of it. Please let me know which one you think would yield the best sound quality and bass output. I figure I can do one of two things:
A. Put my factory hatch speakers back in, buy some JL midbass speakers for the sails and either find some 2ohm door speakers, buy some new factory ones, or keep my Polkdb675's in there
B Keep my Polks up front in the doors and wire the hatch/midbass speaker wires together into my other set of Polkdb675's I have laying around and just not have rear hatch speakers.

Possibly the front and/or rear speakers are wired out if Phase (aka switched + and - on one or more of the speakers)? If one speaker is wired wrong it will work against the others to cancel out the lower frequencies.

First, are we talking about a Firebird or Camaro Monsoon setup? The speaker setup is totally different.
Since the Polk DB675's are coaxials, I'll assume you have a Camaro. Did you put DB675's in the hatch also?
If you like the sound of the door/hatch speakers, I'd say leave them alone and just get new sail speakers.
You could drop a pair of Polks in the sails, but I would not recommend re-routing the hatch speaker wires to there unless the speakers have seperate connections for tweeter and woofer. Tieing the 2 pairs together would likely damage the amplifier.

Yes I have a Camaro, sorry I forgot to mention that earlier. I DID like the way it sounded before I removed the sail panel sub that I thought was broken but I guess it was just blown partially or something cause the bass sure went to hell after I took it out. If the factory hatch speakers would keep up with the Polks in the doors I would put them back in and sell my other set of Polks for a set of JL midbasses but I don't want a lot of distortion either. Or I guess I could keep the setup I have now and just change out the midbass speakers since the highs sound fine its just the bass sounds like ass right now. BTW which JL driver would you reccomend for the sail panels the top or bottom one?

I have read of folks using the 6W0's. Both speakers look like they would work better with a bit more power than the Monsoon amp can deliver.
But of the 2, I'd definitely go the 6W0's.
For myself, I have the Pioneer Premier TS-M7PRS midbasses in my sails. I think they are awesome speakers. Equally as loud and hit as hard as the stockers, but with less distortion. Unfortunely, at $200/pr they are a bit pricey.

Well I'm not wanting to spend near that much on a set of midbass drivers which is why I was looking into those second ones I showed you. I figured those would work great since they're dual 4ohm I could wire them to a 2ohm load like from the factory but maybe not...I'm really wanting to spend under a $100 on a set but need some good bass out of them since my highs and some mids are all I have right now, there is no fullness to my system.

I guess it depends on how much bass you want. You're never going to get alot of thump without a true subwoofer and a dedicated sub amp.
I'm surprised your not getting any bass from your door speakers. Did you not bi-wire them? The stockers have seperate connections for the tweeters and woofers coming from seperate channels on the Monsoon amp. If you only hooked up the tweeter wires, your Polks you not putting out the Monsoon system's full potential. If you only hooked up the woofer wires, you'd know imediately, because you wouldn't get any highs from the doors. The woofer channels have low-pass filters inthe amplifier. So they only output midrange and lower frequencies. I don't know if the tweeter channels have corresponding hi-pass filters on them. But if you hooked them up to the tweeter inputs only, that could explain why you get no bass from them. I do not believe you can tie the tweeter and woofer channels together.
I have Alpine SPS-170A's in my doors and get fairly good bass response from them. Not as much bass as my Pioneers, but I can listen with the fader dialed all the way forward, and still have full-range sound.

Yes I wired the fronts up like your supposed to and I do have decent sounding bass coming from the fronts but after further examination the fronts sound great but the rears in the hatch sound like shit if you fade it all the way too the rear and really mess up the sound. They distort a lot and vibrate the back around and just don't sound very good at all, could my wiring be wrong on the rears or what cause they sound nothing like the door speakers and are the exact same ones. My fronts are/were the only thing keeping my system from sounding like total crap now and I don't know why. Maybe I could take out the Polks in the hatch and put in my factory ones and then try out some JL 6w0's or the 6 1/2" Rockford subs? Some help would be greatly appreciated.
