I have been thinking about changing out the tape deck in my 00 camaro SS because its annoying to have to pop the trunk to load a cd in to the 12 disc changer. I just really like the stock deck in my car and I hear you have to pay Chevy 100 bucks for a part to let you put in a aftermarket deck.

i have an aftermarket head unit, no changer though. Didn't have to buy any adapter because I took the stock monsoon system out and went aftermarket everything. I dont know what would be required to adapt an aftermarket unit to fit the stock amp and everything. If you plan on replacing everything else though, you will have no problem.

My car had the monsoon and last year the cd player went out so I went down to the best buy, bought the wiring harness adapter and face plate adapter to install my Kenwood that was in my other camaro. I spent maybe fifty dollars to swap it over. People kept telling me I was going to blow the factory speakers without the Monsoon head unit but after a year of hard usage I have yet to blow one. The stereo sounds just as good if not better than the factory head unit so I can tell you this from experience. It's easy!!

I like the look of the stocker myself.. plus it keeps thieves from looking into my car..

I've got an Alpine head unit, I love it since I can change the display color to match the gauge color almost perfectly.

I have a Sony that's XM compatible and plays mp3 cds. It's nice having 7 hours of music on a single CD, all of which I like.
