Stereo & Electronics - Headlight bulb question

I want to replace my low beam bulbs (9006's) with high beam bulbs (9005's). Can I do this or will I melt wires, housing, etc? My car is a '99 Z28. I am wanting to put in 9005 hyperwhite bulbs.

i have heard of people doing this but have not heard of any ill effects. i have wondered about doing this to my car as well.

I did this to my 2000 and I have had no problem for over a year. Just make sure you dont touch the light bulb itself on the new bulbs, doing so can make them explode from the oil in your hands when you turn the lights on. If by accident you do touch the bulb wipe it clean with an alcohol cloth before you put the new bulb in.
