Most LCD displays used on laptops are just LCD panels, without any kind of driver. Most LCD's you will find made for car video use have a driver board on them. These driver boards purchased alone cost somewhere in the 200-400 dollar range. If you want a large display, use a laptop. (for computer use) If you need a large display for A/V use, I think you can get the mobile ones in up to 12" in size. Do some searches in google about it. There's alot to information that can be found if you just look for it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I replace LCDs in laptops on a daily basis, and the wiring and connections are different not only from manufacturer to manufacturer, but also model to model. Compaq uses different plugs and wiring than HP, which is different from Dell, which is different from Sony, and a Compaq 1200 series has maybe ten to twenty different models of LCDs from five or so companies, Samsung, Hitachi, etc. And every one of them has a different wiring setup to get video to output, depending on the video chip used on the motherboard, plus daughterboards to convert that signal. This isn't even to mention the additional problems of wiring the inverter board in just to run the backlighting. Save yourself the headache and get one that is made for the application you want.
