Stereo & Electronics - Pix of F-body Interior Removed (B-Quiet Extreme Install)

I'm not done yet, but I'm about 1/3rd of the way through installing the B-Quiet Extreme. For those of you considering doing this, ripping out the interior is not very hard. It took about 3 hours for me to get everything out. 45 minutes of those 3 hours was spent on ONE bolt holding my drivers seat to the floor (I have the adjustable lumbar seats).

Heres the pix I have for now. I'll get more pix after I finish installing the rest of the material.

If any of you have questions about removing a particular part of the interior, let me know. I'll also provide a review of my impressions of the B-Quiet Extreme once I have the car up and running again.

I hope the Extreme is better than the original B-Quiet. That stuff wouldn't stick at all. About 70 degree temps and it would running all over the place and turning to mush.

Each 50 sq ft roll weighs 15 lbs, and I used two whole rolls, for a total of 30 additional pounds. My car is not a race car, so I'm not as concerned about weight as some people are. I will gladly accept 30 extra pounds if it quiets down the interior.

I have since finished putting the material in. I have seen many pictures of people who install sound dampening material, and they cover up all the drain holes, velcro for the walls, and other important things. I did my best to not cover up anything important. Here's a couple more pictures of all the B-Quiet Extreme installed.

Looks good man, I used some "Dead Skin" spray on sound deadner on the spots I couldn't cover with the insulation, works good.

I used the cheap Ac duct insulation which was half the weight as that stuff and a lot cheaper. It may not be as good but it quited it down enoughr for me so I am happy.

B quite told me that I should use 1 layer brown bread and 1 layer Vcomp.

Thanks for the kind words! My car should be drivable in a week and a half, I will let everyone know my impressions once I get to drive it.

Also, I do not pretend to know more about this stuff than B-Quiet does, but I used only 1 and in some places 2 layers of B-Quiet Extreme with no VComp. With just that on my car, that was enough to make the carpeting a little difficult to fit in some places. Had I added VComp (which is thicker) on top of my B-Quiet, I cant imagine the carpeting fitting at all. Maybe on the doors or in the rear hatch area it would work, but definitely not on the floor.

Just a thought...

Since you guys asked me to give my impressions now that the car is running here ya go.

Sadly, it had been over 5 months since I last drove the car, so it's a bit difficult to do a true before and after comparison after putting this stuff, in, but I can say this. I have a 228/224 112LSA cam going through LT headers, a Custom Y and a Loudmouth, which as you may guess is a pretty freakin loud setup. Highway drone is greatly minimized with the windows up. The stereo very easily can drown out the exhaust noise. Road and tire noise is almost non-existant. Obviously there is still wind noise (sound dampening cant help that), but I will say that all the creaks and rattles of a typical hatchback are completely gone after doing this. Its hard to say if my stereo sounds any better, cause like I said, its been so long since I heard it, but I can say I have absolutely no complaints. My little 10" MTX Stealbox pounds very hard and does not rattle anything AT ALL. I am very happy with this setup, and would highly recommend it to anyone else considering putting this stuff in.

I ordered 70sq feet of the "Brown Bread" stuff (one step above the Extreme), and will be applying it Constrictor 98TA style to everything. Ill let everyone know how it goes when it gets here in a week or so!
