Stereo & Electronics - replacement sail pannel subs?

Just wonderin' if any of you guys have bought any after market sail pannel subs?
They just can't take a beating. :cry: What's out there and will I need a new amp?

Honestly it is nearly impossible to find a 6" sub that will sound much better then the factory subs. You really need an 8-10-12 inch sub to produce the lowest frequencies. There are a few 6" subs that will probably perform a bit better than the factory subs.

This will blow the stock crap away, but they are not going to run with quality 10"s or 12"s

I think those are too deep but I'd also worry about the fact that they are 4 ohm and not very efficient. If he keeps the monsoon amp the subs will only play 1/2 as loud if using a 4 Ohm speaker and with the senstivity of 83db 1W/1m it is going to take a lot of power to drive those subs to anything above moderate volumes.

So there's no replacement 6.5 subs that are 2ohm?

From what I've heard, it'll be best to just get a sub or two and power from an external amp.

EU700s 6.5" subs. You need to run it on a separate 200 amp.

You always have that tradeoff between frequency range (especially low-end), quality, and especially efficiency.

Just put in some 8" subs hooked to an amp and call it a day....lol.
I put 8" rockford fosgate stage 1's back there and they sound awesome. I'm only feeding them 50 watts right now, so when I get a bigger amp for them and dynomat behind them, they should sound even better. These will require some cutting though...

The T/A's have a dual voice coil 4ohm speakers:

The Camaro's have a single voice coil 2ohm speaker. Really the only 2ohm in T/A's are the door speakers (woofer's) and thats it.

But sorry man, I don't know what speakers to replace them with. After messing with my Camaro's speakers too much, I am ready to replace the whole system. And when the time comes on my T/A I will do the whole system as well. Stock systems blow ass!

Do you have a pic of the dynamat before you put the speaker in? I was just curious what you with it behind the speaker...

I don't have a pic. but basically, i coverd the back wall, and covered the hole on the side. i don't know if it was "right" but, that's what i did.

So did you put it way back there, on the actual inside of the quarter panel, or did you put it on the piece that you had to cut?? And I guess on the sides its not really stuck to anything??

On the sides its just stuck to the metal. on the inside of the "back wall" is where the rest of it is. and along the hole on the inside of the "wall." like i said, probably not "right" or perfect. maybe you could try that spray shit. maybe that would work better.

Image dynamic cx62's are 2 ohms and high sensativity,they work decent for me.
