Stereo & Electronics - How to remove factory head unit

I was wondering what tricks or tips for removing the factory head unit in my 99 vette. Any help appreciated.

Removing the radio involves removing (or at least repositioning) the console first. Open the compartment and remove the retaining nut covers then remove the nuts holding the rear of the console. Remove the nuts holding the front of the console. Lift the rear of the console and pull rearward to release the front edge from the radio trim plate. Remove the ashtray and the small cover on the left end of the trim panel. Remove the screws from behind the cover and behind the ashtray. Hold the sides of the trim plate near the curve at the base and pull the plate rearward (lift the back end a bit to clear the studs). Now you should be able to swivel the plate enough to work on the radio, but if not, you can disconnect the lighter plug and remove the shift knob so that you can take the plate off.
