Automotive News, Media & Press - Are the cars on pinks lieing about their HP numbers?

I just watched an episode with the camino and monte carlo. The stats on the monte carlo was a 377 small block, steel heads, 1000cfm carb and some other stuff. They said 650rwhp on motor! how the hell is that possible considering with the same cubes, our cars come nowhere close to that NA. Not to mention most of the cars on pinks always brake something and most of them are around 11sec cars or more. Anyone else notice the stats on some of the cars complete BS?

I was thinking the same thing last night. If they were using aluminum heads No problem. Just look at a Nextel Cup car. 800hp

Just doesn't seem possible. The nascar engines are pretty pricey no? These guys said it was a junkyard motor and only had 2 weeks to build it.
