Stereo & Electronics - Pass side window/wiring problems

Last night my pass side window worked fine. This morn I go to roll it down and nothing. I tried rolling it down with the button on the pass side and still nothing. I checked all fuses and still nothing so I figured the motor was bad, I pull the old one, while leaving it pulgged up but out of the car I try rolling it up or down and it will only go up but not down. I take the motor and get a brand new replacement and before I install it I try the same thing to make sure its going to work. Well once again all it will do is go up. I got my wire tester to see it it was getting juice to make it go down and I could touch it to the wire and press the botton down and it would light up. So im stumped. The drivers side buttons want control it all up or down. The pass side button will make it only go up. So im confused now. Its getting juice. Any one have an suggestions? on why it would go up and not down? And why the drivers side buttons want make it do anything?
Thanks!

Don't know but I have a similar problem. After replacing my passenger side motor (wouldn't move with either switch after doing the move a couple inches at a time thing for a month) it only works with the passenger side door switch - just bought a new module for the driver's side but haven't put it in yet.

Well I can hook the wire tester to the plug where the motor plugs in and press down on the drivers side button and it will light up, I can press it up and iit doensnt do anything. Is there some kind of lock out button or something somewhere? This is getting really irrating

Could it be the power window control module? I pulled it out but none of the resistors look burnt or etc. Guess Ill replace it first.

I'm thinking the drivers side switch module has to be wired into the passenger side, right? I got no power at all to the passenger motor connector up or down from the drivers module so just bought a new one. Switch looked fine. Have you tried disconnecting the double window switch on the drivers side and see if it works with just using the passenger side switch? Something easy to try.

No, it could not be the power window control module. The module's only function is to control the express down on the driver's side window.
All control power for the passenger's window motor flows through the passenger's switch regardless of which side switch is actually pressed. So I would suspect a problem with the passenger side switch before anything else.
You can test the brown and dark blue wires between the right side switch and the motor. When UP is selected on either switch the dark blue will have power (12V+) and the brown will have ground. When DOWN is pressed on either switch it is reversed (power on brown and ground on dark blue).

Ok, then that rules that out, Thanks!
Then why want the drivers side button make the windo go up or down, it doesnt do anything at all. The pass side button will only make it move up. Ive tested the wires and both are getting 12 volts when pressed up or down. The motor is brand new just got it earlier. The one I took out did the same exact thing, would only go up and not down. Any suggestions on what else to try or look for?

What about a relay? wheres it located? This is really pissing me off, I cant find nothing that would cause this. Is just happend out of the blue.

Which one? Ive tested the pass side switch and it gets juice to both wires. The drivers side wire gets juice to all wires but the baby blue wire. You think the drivers side switch is bad?

Okay, it's not a question of whether you are getting power to the switch - it's a question of whether you're getting power from the switch to the motor. As I said before, test the output of the passenger switch on the dark blue or brown wire depending on which way you press the switch (either side switch will cause the same response). You need to have power on one wire and ground on the other when the switch is pressed. If you don't then the passenger side switch is probably the problem but there's additional testing you can do to confirm that. If you do then there is a problem either in the motor (unlikely since you've replaced it) or in the wiring between the switch and the motor.

I mentioned above Ive tested the wires between the pass side switch and the motor and both get power to them. I even swapped the motor again still nothing. It will only go up.
On the drivers side switch the baby blue one is the only one that doesnt get power, I pulled the switch and it looks a lil melted on the bottom but nothing major looking. You think the driver side switch would be my problem?

Drivers side switchs are PN 10402842 if you need it, rained/football today so haven't changed mine yet.

The light blue wire at the driver's switch will show power only when the driver's side switch for the passenger window is in the UP position.
Rather than guessing at what could be the problem, here is the wiring schematic so you can test various connections.

If Im not mistaken there was another color wire on the drivers side switch that had power when the pass side window was in the up position. I cant remember, I messed with it from 9am till dark yesterday and still no luck so evertything started running together.
Iver ordered all new switches for both pass side and drivers side. Do you think the drivers side switch could be bad?

It's possible but I never guess at these things. You can always determine the source of an electrical problem by testing. For example, if you suspect the left side switch then disconnect the plug at the right side switch and test there while operating the the left side passenger's switch. When the switch is DOWN you should have power on the tan wire and ground on the light blue wire. When the switch is UP you should get power on the light blue wire and ground on the tan wire. If you get the correct power and ground readings in those tests then the left side switch is working properly.

I see where your coming from. Ill give it a shot and see this afternoon. Thanks for all your help! BTW- having all this unplugged would haven anything to do with my factory alarm would it? it activates its self now as soon as you shut the door.

It could - the BCM controls the alarm and uses the switches in the door latches to determine if the doors are shut. You can program the alarm off to prevent that while you're working on this problem.

How do you do that? Also do you know how to reset it after Im finshed working on it? that way it doesnt arm every time I shut my door.

Programming instructions are in your owner's manual and posted here (http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2965615&postcount=5). You change the "Theft Deterrent Arming Method" to mode 1 to disable the alarm and to one of the other modes to enable it.

Ok, I think I may know why the alarm does that now. I pulled the radio fuse to keep the door ajar ding ding from going off. Is there a way to reset this. Ive put the fuse back in and it activates its self. Ive even un hooked the battery cable then re attached with no luck.

Ok heres a list of what I come up with:
- Light blue wire on Drivers side switch for pass side doenst get power any way I try it
- Tan wire on drivers side pass switch gets power when press down
- Pass side tan wire on the pass side switch gets power when grounded to the body and I press down on drivers side switch.
- Pass side light light blue wire get no power anyway I try it. Grounded using the tan or the body.
-When using Tan as a ground and light blue for power asd pressing the button on the drivers side I get no power
- When using Tan as power and light blue as ground and pressing the drivers side button I get no power
So that sounds like the drivers side switch is messed up right?
BTW- 2001NBMZ28, thats awesome you got your problem fixed that quick, I ordered new switches for both sides so hopefully that will be my answer also.
Thanks!

Yes, it sounds like the portion of the left side switch where the light blue wire switches between power and ground (circuit 166 in the diagram) is defective. It doesn't provide power to put the passenger's window up using the left switch and it doesn't provide ground to put the passenger's window down using either switch. The right switch still works to put the window up because the power is supplied separately through a brown wire and the ground goes through the tan wire.
