its just bs to help get the stock back up im sure....kinda like the thing about toyota or nissan and gm merging....considering GM produces 18 percent of the worlds automobiles, the government wont let it fail cause itd lose all the money from the taxes and what not.

and i dont think gm and ford merging would be favored for many reasons...one being that if there is no other big domestic competition, what incentive is there to build high horsepower applications?, itd all turn to foreign gas saving tree hugging cars again like in the 80's and early 90's. america needs that competition and dont bring up dodge, they are the ones who need to be bought out, cummins motors are about the only good thing that is in those vehicles. if gm bought them and had cummins on a contract for their vehicles, can you imagine the high horsepower and torque that could come out even on top of the duramax?

i understand where you are coming from but i guess what they were saying was that if they did merge it would help on the cost of buying similar parts that are used in production but your probly right about it being bs the muscle car wars are starting to heat back up and if this happend imo i think it would slow it down

Doesn't make me sick to my stomach. Would be sick, Ford and GM sharing information could make for some cool shit.

What would be cool is if you had car companies and dealerships specializing in a specific sector of the market. You could have your sports car division which would sell camaros, mustangs, corvettes, etc. Down the street you have the sedans division with the Ford and GM sedans etc, next door to the suvs, then the trucks.

As it is, in my town we have a car dealership group that has 23 different brands in a 2 miles stretch. They don't care what you buy, just as long as you buy it from them...

They are Fredbeans of Doylestown .. http://www.fredbeans.com/index.htm?bhcp=1

You can go from Cadillac to Hyundai in a matter of crossing the street or going to the next show room. It's the modern way anymore.

Wouldn't mind if that happened. It may help keep cost down and make for better quality American cars.

Beside the Corvette and until they start producing the Camaro Chevy hasn't been into making performance cars for the average Joe. At least Ford makes a performance vehicle people can afford . I'm a Chevy guy at heart but Chevy kind of reminds me of Dodge about 15yrs ago when they started to make everything front wheel drive. Maybe the merge would make things turn around for Chevy faster.

Performance cars aren't bread and butter money makers, but GM has many more performance/sporty cars -- Grand Prix GXP, Monte Carlo SS, Impala SS, Cobalt SS S/C, Saturn Ion Redline, base Solstice/Sky with GXP and Redline versions, GTP G6, Trailblazer SS, C6, Z06, GTO, Cadillac V-series, SSR, Silverado SS.

Now go look on a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury lot -- what do they have? The Mustang and....?

GM also has many new cars coming -- CTS (300hp?), HHR SS, Aura Redline, Astra Redline, GTO, Camaro, RWD Impala, G8, 600+ hp Corvette, Cadillac Kappa car.....

did you not read the fourm that stated that the shelby will be sold as a "flagship"car=limted edition and will be priced at $81000 how is that afforable to the avrg joe honestly the avg .joe has a better chance buying a z06 vette for 60 some thousand.

IMO the "merger" has already done it's job. I believe it's all about the hype as both GM and Ford are financially falling. This "mergrer" is probly just propaganda...and here we all sit, discussing them...see my point?

But as far as 81k for the car , I worked for a ford dealer working in the fleet depertment the car is selling for 45k all day long. Yes it is limited production some dealers are marking up the price for those who don't know any better. As far as me saying the ave Joe could affordthe car I was talking about the Mustang Gt.I was just making a point about the different performance cars that Ford is offering right now.I know Chevy can make a faster car for less money I'm not saying Ford is better just saying Chevy needs to step up with more affordable true rear wheel performance vehicles.

Granted we all have different points of view on this, from simpley Ford/Chevy, to what cars would be offered and called. But if it helps save Jobs which is number 1 I think and secondly gives us all great products alot cheaper. Then wouldnt we all be better off? I think they still would offer the Mustang and Camaro cause they both would sale. Someone (female) told me that Mustangs are muscle cars for females. I fell out laughing.

SORRY! It's just that sooo many think these "Nippon Supacars" are going to be priced way down around the Evo/STI/350Z range. It AIN'T gonna happen, they're delusional!!

Besides, I'd rather have Ford parts in my Chevy (or vice versa), than have to buy from Japan. :nono: :pissed: :usa:

Still sucks out loud, rumor or not, some people are just loyal to what they like.
If they join, wouldnt it just show that american companies cant run as good as foreign? Its kind of a desperate move, they just need more creativity and smarter ceos that arent affraid to try new things.
