My stock Monsoon door speakers were shot. I read the Sticky ^ and took their advice on using the Alpine SPS-170As. I also picked up a pair of Kicker 04SSMB6 6-1/2" Midbass Speakers for the rear subs even though my stockers were fine.

Total cost = $49.99 (Alpines) + $66.00 (Kickers) + @25 for shipping. (online store that starts with an E and ends with tronics.)

Wired the Alpines up and was very happy with the results matched to the stock subs. More range in the highs and lows. Much sharper, cleaner sound.

I went ahead and installed the Kickers in the back the next day. They put out a different kind of bass compared to the stockers... not necessarily deeper, but cleaner and tighter.

I'm certainly happy with the swap. For minimal cost I've got a better than stock sounding system.

Thanks to LS1Tech stickies. :)

I'm glad the 170As sound good. I got a set earlier this year out of a Prelude that I bought as a builder-FREE upgrade... I am going to put them in w/ my Stealthbox.

I was there today and you didn't let me hear it? ;)

I'm glad it worked out Joe!

I read this and ordered the kickers last week, put them in today. Seems to be a good quality speaker for $66 a pair! Its hard as hell to find just the midbass of a component set, thanks for the heads up. :thumb:
