It's just a test mule for the drive train. The hood is just a temporary solution while they test. If you notice it also doesn't have the Gm badges on the side denoting it as an older model they used as a mule. They car is doing nothing but testing the powertrain and possible new suspension/chassis.

well good because that hood looks like :turd:

How do they know it's a 6.2-liter besides the "speculating sources"?

What retard designed the scoop

I was told that this mule was just testing the engine. They took a stock Z06 and put the new motor in to test it.The final production unit should look entirely different. The ugly hood scoop was needed to fit the 650hp supercharged motor under the stock Z06 hood.

Most likely gonna be a cowl hood in the end.

they need to put a hood on it with the same cowl as the sunoco hood that would be :hump:

think thats the only way they know. I think its the LS9 6.2L supercharged, atleast thats what I.ve been hearing for the past year. car went from blue devil to SS to stingray.

a Cowl hood would look bad ass.

I am basing this on the fact that on Most Wanted my Corvette has a cowl hood.

haha.

I agree with everyone else not real crazy about the hood, but can't wait to see some real numbers on the car. I like the the stingray name, finally they quit teasing use with the supercharged idea now hopefully they will build it!!!

They jsut better make a DAMN strong engine. Drop the aluminum block and go all forged. I know there is people that make 1k rwhp on a aluminum block. Buts its a RAGGED edge. When GM will finally have a car that can be mostly stock adn run single digits. Should be sweet. GL guys

Why did they not do a turbo. SC is such a stupid idea. Mako Shark would be a great name though!!!

That's what I am thinking. 650 is badass, but if they are going to do a SC Vette then I would expect them to go all out and not leave the chance of something else eclisping them in the next couple of years.

I suspect the final numbers will be above 650, and won't be released for some time. That way, instead of the hype slowly dying over the next few years while waiting for the car to finally be finished, the hype will be renewed with higher hp numbers unvieled than previously thought.

At least that is what I would do.

I don't like the SS nameplate on a Corvette, but the "Stingray" name doesn't really come to mind when I look at that car.

Looks like a Z06 with a hood scoop.
The Corvette Stingray was a different car by itself, also the only vette made of metal.
They need to change the styling to make it clarify as a stingray...

....dude :jest:

they were using the z06 just as a test model for the new drivetrain and motor... obviously it's not going to look like that. didn't you see the z06 emblems?

drop the aluminum block?? :eyes: ya, it would be great to have another 100lbs on the front with an iron block :jest: :barf:

it doesn't have 1000hp, 'only' 650. certainly no need for an iron block.

Sweet ride. I agree, who gives a piss about the pics right now and the hood. The vette is GM's bread n butter. They are not going to have it look like shit especially if its going to cost in excess of 100 G'z. I'd call it a stingray. When people say SS they don't think of a vette.

Im not complaining about the SC Vette, but i'd like to think that GM should keep to its roots and stay NA... Im sure they'll be able to do it. Doubt it'll happen, and at this point in the game its pretty obvious that they've already put a SC on the board, but I'd like to think that they coulda done it. Seems to me that everyone has been using FI lately, I respected the fact that GM could put out UBER hp numbers without it...
.. Oh well. I'd still take one.

Above 650?! That's already well into the worthless horsepower arena.

The 505 in the current Z06 is just this side of useable.

The simple fact of the matter is current tire technology precludes any car having much use for horespower above the 500 level. Beyond that the chasis, tire, and downforce needed puts those cars well beyond "street".

I'd make it stay to a generic name like Blue Devil....I dont see the purpose of calling it a stingray.....how the hell does this look like a stingray?

Blue Devil FTW.
