Stereo & Electronics - can I stuff a cap & dis. block under carpeting

thinking of stuffing the cap under the carpet, do'es this thing need to be exposed to air?

Generally, they should not radiate much heat, if at all. I have my distribution block mounted behind the rear wall amp rack. Not much air circulation and no problems.
