Stereo & Electronics - Manual Fan Switch

I wanted to make a manual fan switch so I can run the fans at the track with the car off and help cool it down a bit so im not hotlapping. Might be useful at other times as well.

I see shoebox's diagram for the lt1, is the ls1 the same way? Will it work if i just follow his directions? Ive heard that one setup however causes a small low level drain even when it is in the off position so it can kill your battery when not running. Is this the flawed setup or will it work fine on my 02 t/a?

Thats the way I have my lt1 car ( OBDII, so I dont see why it wouldn't work on your ls1 car ) and have had my car sit for a week once, and started right up... No worries on battery drain, if there is one, its small and insignificant.

anybody done this to a ls1 car yet ????? Post up info if you have im interested as well !!

I'd just get the SLP unit - you can hook up LEDs easily too, did it to mine.

I have led's wired to mine as well..

( wire from PCM is actually blue, I used a red wire to tap into it, thats why my diagram says red )
Then either use the proper resistor for the led in between the 12v source ( I used a constant, even though I wrote switched on the skim ) or buy a led with a built in resistor..

lol ....bring back the dead thread lol ......so checking back on this like a year latr anybody that done this have a battery drain and was it ever determined if this schematic worked for the ls1 car too??

Haha i just did the switch install yesterday, what a coincidence. It worked easy, the schematic worked on an ls1. Im not sure if i wired my hi and low backwards to the pcm or soemthing but it didnt work correctly the first time. I switched the hi and low wires on the switch and it worked. I am pretty sure I did it right though so who knows.

really!! so the OBD-II schematic works on ls1's was this on your 02 bird im planning on doing it to my 99z next weekend i guess....

and yea that is strange how i revived it and you just did it yesturday??? lol ....but at least we all know now .......

I need to buy the hardware needed to do this. I plan on doing it very soon.
