Just seen a commercial for it.

380bhp, curb weight of 4,244. Claims 13.9 in the quarter.

http://www.lexus.com/models/LS/

Pretty strange hearing about an 8 speed. Wonder what the gearing is like.

I always wondered when Lexus would get in on this luxury sports sedan thing.

holy shit 8 speed tranny? damn, i know thats suppose to help fuel economy or something, but wow. just wait in the next couple of years i can see it comming. *INTRODUCING* the all new mercedes benz E class with a real peterbuilt 18 speed transmission, for those who really enjoy shifting. haha but as far as 13.9 in the quarter im a bit skeptical over, i seriously doubt a 4300lb car can do that even with 380hp. maybe 14.9. but w/e luxery isnt my shtick.

that thing is pretty well-priced compared to the german cars. base model bmws are in the 40 and 50k range. thats insane.

That is way possible. The Trailblazer SS does right around those numbers and is a bit heavier than the Lexus LS, although it does have about 20 HP more.

Yeah that commercial is insane. I just looked my wife straight in the eyes and said "start saving for the downpayment."

If you cannot parrellel pk and require a machine to do it for you. You should not be allowed to drive. My goodness, what is this world coming too?

the LS being their flagship sedan model, those cars are pretty amazing. IMO, they made the LS look much more muscular with the V8.

You're spending your 61k+ well.

What makes you guys think that thing won't do 13.9 in the quarter? Sure its heavy but its got 380hp and I doubt its going to fall out of its powerband when it shifts.

with a $93,000 price tag, i will pass. Even with the massage chairs in the back its not worth it. It has some cool stuff but not that much.

Yep, as long as the power and weight numbers posted above are accurate it should be able to pull a 13.9 in the quarter. Hell, GM trucks(regular cab, short bed) weighing in at ~4300-4400lbs pull 14.9's and better with a old 5.3L which was rated at 285hp.

its not that hard to believe considering the 2007 audi s6 runs a low mid 13 with 420 hp weighing 4200+

i will take the s6 any day of the year over the lexus

There's a video floating around the net showing a couple guys testing the automatic parking. They didn't fare too well.

They were trying to park the vehicle in a parking spot. They weren't trying to parallel park it, like the system was designed.

First gear is around 4.6x:1, its rediculous. My grandfather works for Hennessy Lexus of Atlanta and they had the chance to drive the balls of of these cars at road atlanta recently. He says its good for what its advertised for. If anyone wants more details about the car, feel free to give him a ring. His name is Bob Smithson.

FWIW even older (1997 model) LS400s ran in the 14s. The LS430s ran low low 14s. I see no reason why the new one with the 8 speed and a more refined motor shouldnt run a 13.9?

That's NOT the LS. That's the new IS-F. The IS is the entry level Lexus, their BMW 3er if you will. The F model packs a 5.0L V8 and the same 8 speed automatic (no stick shift in a compact sports sedan = :bang: ) as its big brother LS but the two cars are completely different from one another.
