I got my BMR BBC K-member in today. The mounts didn't match up with what I have. All I have is the brackets that mount to the engine and then the rubber engine mount. ITs got 4 holes on it to bolt it down but the BMR k-member has a 3 bolt hole plate for the motor mounts.

Heres a picture of the BMR k-member.

and heres a picture of what I've got.

Do I need another part to mount my motor to the K-member? I just don't see how this is going to bolt up here.

Hey, I have the same k-member. You bolt them directly to the block, you don't use the stock clam shells at all. The poly donuts they give you are supposed to be the "dampners" where the mounts bolt to the k-member.

Thanks, I was looking at everything over it at work and once I got home I realize what I was supposed to do. The picture I got off their site didn't explain it great because the K-member and mounts are both red and I couldn't tell the difference between them.

HA, yea i got mine in yesterday as well, let me know how the bushings act, i seeked a solid mount setup at first... but bmr's poly bushings may be best of both worlds!? I love the body to twist with engine rev... but it gets old being thrown around in your car at stops!! I have a 4th gen TA in the works for 496bb, get in touch.. maybe we can share some ideas or info, Im assuming by the pic you ordered the factory power rack k member?? i went pinto rack.. i got a pinto rack fairly cheap but the BS to make it work is growing.. NOT a direct replacement!! nned extensions, a clamp, and a steering shaft adapter.

Madman can get you all that you need to make a pinto rack work.

I figured it out after getting home and looking at everything. you can't tell in the BMR picture because the bushing are red and so is the K-member. You just mount the plate to the motor and put a red bushing on both sides of the k-member and bolt it up.

smokin2002, I'm looking at creating a sticky on how to do a BBC/SBC conversion. I just gotta put everything together over the next week and get some good pictures of everything. I want to make it as detailed as possible. But if you need any help shoot me a pm.

The car is comeing along quite well!

Hey cwaldt, I have 2 questions....what manifold did you use and on the passenger side header did you beat the firewall in or did you re-configure the #6 primary tube?

I'm using the 2455 headers and the driver side fits great, but the pass side hit the firewall right at the heater box (removed).

I'm using the Victor Jr. 454-O manifold and I'm trying to use an elbow from Intake Elbows or Wilson. Any thoughts?

I beat in on the passenger side firewall to get my headers to fit. I got it to work but I think I'm going to have some more room now that I've got the BMR k-member to move the motor forward a little. I had my motor sitting to far back when I tried to use my stock k-member.

Heres a photo of my intake and carb fittment

My motors going to move forward a little thanks to my new k-member. I'm just running a filter on top of my carb. I got a low profile Holley filter.

I don't know if that will help you but this is the route I'm going to go.

Please don't judge my dirty, mess mock up. I'd just set everything up to run the motor in the car. I've repainted everything since and my valve covers are now alum. I used some paint remover on them and cleaned them up before I clear coated them.

I worked at a performance shop for 4 years and the air cleaner that your going to use is ok but I always had people tell me that if you backfire through the cab you will catch the foam on fire.
Just a little fyi

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! For the love of god please dont use that filter! I almost had my entire project burn to the ground because of it. Just as fatalz95 said the motor backfired and the foam caught on fire. Luckily i pulled over in time to save it from any major damage but please do not use it. I looked great on top of my sbc but i wouldnt recommend it to anyone. I am running a blow through carb bonnet with two pipes routed down to the behind the drivers side turn signal where i have a k&n cone filter.

Thanks, I won't use it. I liked the looks and it seems like the only thing that would fit under my hood thanks to my high intake. I'll take it back to Advance Auto and see if I can get a refund.

I've seen that photo before. I think that was one of the photos that help steer me in that direction. But, thanks for letting me know about the fire hazard.
