no, if it's real, it's using permanent magnets, not electromagnets. electromagnets use coils of wire to generate current, at a right angle to a magnetic field. this one appears to have no wire.

thats just an old permamagnet motor..i see them everyday at work. i love changing the brushes on them..very easy compared to standard dc motors.
