I currently have a 86 305. I would like to have more horsepower but i don't want to add any more torque. I'm thinking on getting a 350 block and heads and putting the TPI intake on it. Would destroking the 350 crank help get rid of some of the extra torque? Would the crank in the 305 fit and do what I want?

uhmm a 305 crank and a 350 crank are the exact same stroke 3.480 so it would be kinda pointless in doing that..

Confused also, torque keeps the rpm's lower, better for street & slower stuff.
What r u trying to do??

unsure of what you are wanting to do, a 305 is not a torque monster anyway- if anything you want to add torque

My car weighs about 2000lb and the transmission will take about 300ft-lb of torque max. I already shattered 3 CV joints in the axles with this stock motor. I don't need the low end torque to get the car moving, I'm looking for something that can breathe so I can use my short gears to their advantage. 5th gear maxes out at 120 :)

you could drop in a 327 it would have a shorter stroke than the 305/350 but still make more power than you have right now
