I rebuild my 283 out of my 61 Impala. It runs good, but I am getting a lot of gas in the oil. I assume it is running rich, but have no idea about adjusting the carb. It has a 4 barrel (I think Holley) carb. There are two adjustment screws visible on the front of the carb near the base. Anyone know where to start? Also, it is a new fuel pump. is it possible that that it is leaking into the crankcase. Have several other problems, but I will hold off for now.
Thanks.

how big is the carb? maybe you have too much carb for your engine, is the carb leaking (puddling fuel in the intake) after you shut the engine off? the 2 screws you are referring 2 are the mixture screws.

New pump or not, I would first suspect that. If it was running so rich as to fill the oil with fuel your eyes would be burning just standing near it.

Deffinately check that fuel pump, before you wash the bearings and have to rebuild it again.
