Stereo & Electronics - Alpine 9833 in a Monsoon car

Hey just got '99 TA WS6 so it has the Monsoon system in it and I think it actually sounds pretty damn good for just a stock system but would like to be able to play MP3 discs and a few other things.

Have heard that just puttin in an aftermarket HU, Alpine 9833 (friend is selling it to me cheap if I want it), will make a pretty noticable difference. Just making sure it's worth the money and I will actually be able to hear a difference.

It really depends on the head unit but yes, generally you will be able to hear an improvement. The sound will be cleaner and you should be able to use higher volume levels before getting distortion. Whether it's worth the money depends on what you pay and what you get. The sound will be better but it won't be a huge difference. Weigh the sound and the features against the cost (don't forget the mounting kit, harness adapter, and antenna adapter) and the fact that it won't have the factory look.

Once I replaced the stock HU with the Alpine CDA-D857, I noticed the sound quality improved. If you can get the CDA-9833, get it. I am using the CDA-9835 and very nice.

Get the 9833. It is very similar to the 9835. I have this one in my other car and it sounds great. But I am bypassing the factory amp. I should have got a similar Alpine for my SS instead of the clarion.

I have the 9831 in my car. Granted I had 4 way door speakers before I upgraded to the alpine HU, but the quality difference was much much better. Improves clarity by a lot.
