As of yesterday my headlight motor started making a whinning noise evertime I shut off my lights. I didnt know this until I went to arm my car after I got out and my headlights came up and down. This has never happend before, has anyone experienced this? What is the cause and if you did and how did you fix it? My headlights have never come up and down when ever I activate or deactivate the alarm, only the foglights will flash. Thanks

It's a symptom of the headlight motor gears being stripped. The alarm system checks that the headlights are down by measuring the resistance of the motors. When the gear is stripped it can't get an accurate reading so it puts them up and then down to ensure they're closed.
GM says you have to replace the headlight motor to solve the problem but of course we know better. There's a link in the FAQ sticky to a free fix and also where to get metal gears to replace the stripped plastic ones.
