I have a new 07 Vette and am thinking of going the route of superchargers...

Maybe an Eaton or something... I don't want anything to radical or loud.

Is a brand new stock motor able to handle something like this or do i need to do upgrades to the bottom/top end?

I've got the Magna Charger and love it. Sure, you can hear it pretty good but I think it's well worth it. The Lingenfelter package doesn't touch the internals at all so that says a lot. The Pro Charger is also a great choice and you can keep the stock hood unlike mine. The other big difference is the sound. It's more of a whistle with the Pro Charger. Either way, the stock motor can handle it unless you want to really push the boost. Then it's best to start upgrading the internals. A good tune is always money well spent too.

Congrats and good luck with the new vette too. :drive:

Oh yeah, my Magna Charger was put on right from the factory before it ever got to the dealership so you don't have to worry about breaking it in first. :)

You may want to ask nine ball where you need the upgrades. He has posted an interesting picture. I think it is from his c6 magnacharged car.

You'll definitely want to upgrade the rear end. Ask Nine Ball (Tony) about that, too. :jest:

Speaking of the rear-end. What kind of power/abuse can these rear-ends handle?

Not much. Any wheel hop at all, it seems, will blow it to pieces:

I remeber nine ball asking DTE about upgrades (in a post) to the rears for C-6 cars months ago and I dont think they had the braces at the time. Thats when it hurts the most when your trying to get it right and cant even throw money at it to fix your situation.

Check out this C6 that we installed an ATI ProCharger on. It went from 323 rwhp stock to 470 rwhp when we were finished. The only addition we did was install the ATI ProCharger. A new C6 Z06 on my dyno will put out 420 rwhp, to give you a comparison of how much power this truly is. Bob

I have a few friends with C6s that had rear differential problems from the factory. Is ther e a recall?

Anyway, I don't know about C6s, but on C5s, they seem to be pretty strong. I have a stock internal LS1 / Procharger setup that's been on the car for 3 years. The trick is to avoid wheelhop. Use a drag radial.

I was beginning to wonder. Mine is making funny noises (almost like a grinding) every now and then, especially in reverse while turning. I haven't abused it at all and I only have ~3800 miles on the car.
