You can't...unless you want to build a logic circuit to interpret the signal. The entire set of steering wheel controls use a single power feed and a single output wire. The switches have different resistors built-in and the radio determines which switch has been pressed by reading the total resistance.

so i guess i have two options use a pic chip and make a logic board or replace the switches and run new wires.

What about using that SWI-X thing, or whatever?

What about removing the factory PCBs from each switch and building your own, for whatever your purpose may be? Or you could buy some copperclad from an electronics distributor as a mounting board for a flush-mount factory looking pushbutton or rocker, there's plenty of space.

I've just finished the first modification of my steering wheel controls, and drilled pilot holes for two 5mm LEDs. Inside the switch I've placed a higher output T-1 red LED to illuminate the white plastic the individual switch faces themselves are molded from. In the interior the switches light up red, behind the black paint job, the left LED is brilliant blue while the right is a blinking amber LED.
