Ok I just bought a Onkyo 804, I also have a Samsung 50' DLP, and a PS3. I am currently using a HDMI from my cable box to the TV, Now that I have this ONKYO with 2 Input and one Output HDMI I want to hook it all up using my Onkyo.I have the TV going to the Output of the Onkyo, and the Cable, and the PS3 to the Inputs.I can get Picture and sound with the PS3, but when I try to go back to my TV a screen comes up and it says and it says that my TV does not support DVI and HDMI, and that I need to use a Component cable, the audio and the Red, Green,Blue.I just don't understand why.I can hook a HDMI cable to the cable box to the TV and it works. If there is know way then I have to use component how do i hook it this way......

I cant be sure cause I havent been deep into the home theater game for a while, but when HDMI came out there have been some issue with the security signals that are in place can only go directly to the tv and arent capable of working with certain HDMI switching devices. hopefully someone else will chime in with a solution.

It sounds like you might have some cables crossed or incompatible HDMI versions.
I just want to make sure we are talking the same layout.
Can you confrim?
ONKYO HDMI INPUT 1 <-------- Cable Box HDMI OUTPUT
ONKYO HDMI INPUT 2 <-------- PS3 HDMI OUTPUT
ONKYO HDMI OUTPUT ------> TV HDMI INPUT
If that is the way you have it connected and you are having a problem, then it may be a HDMI version issue. How old is the TV or ONKYO? I dont remember if early HDMI had HDCP (High Definition Copy Protection) which your new ONKYO probably has and your TV might not or vica versa. Can you connect the PS3 to the TV via HDMI and does it work properly? Are there any HDMI settings in the ONKYO or TV? BTW, you can get by with comopenent (RGB) cable to connect for HD signal, but the BlueRay player in the PS3 may require HDMI to appease the MPAA (think RIAA for the movie industry).

Or it could be something stupid like the HDCP seeing the ONKYO inbetween the Source (Cable Box or PS3) and TV thinking its a hack and going into protection mode (whatever its called) in which case the signal is shut down.

I thought I was told that you have to hook up the HDCP compliant devices in a certain order as well. Refer to your manuals. Dear god, modern tecnology is getting so rediculous with all it's anti-pirating BS. Sell this crap for a reasonable price, and people won't be so inclined to try and get it for free/cheap.
