i installed a shift light in my 98 TA today ground the light to a good ground in the engine bay. ran the red wire to the fuse box and pulled tach off pin 35
i turn key on and the light flashes set the rpm to 3000 to test it rev the motor and nothing. what did i do wrong i also set it for 4 cly

Did you splice into the wire coming out of the ECU?

yes a white wire pin 35

As long as you got the correct pin from the PCM for the tach input signal & a good solid ground & power it should work.

If its coming on & flashing back your setting then you have good power & ground, but had to have spliced into the incorrect tach input wire. There is no other reason for it not to work, unless it was messed up when purchased.

turns out the shift light is bad summit is sending a new one
