FYI, we ran these passes consecutively and my bottle pressure dropped after each pass, obviously.

My only excuse is after 100 my car started breaking up bad. Thinking it is clogged injectors.

EVo's can be pretty quick, I'd take a shot though!

an evo can have the stock turbo and still gain alot of HP with the boltons

an evo redlines around 7 grand. after a few boltons and a tune, you can raise it up higher.

Redline on the tach says 7000 yet the actual rev limit is set at 7600. Going over 7000 with the stock cams is worthless. With a pair of cams, you can rev to 7500 and things will be dandy. Dont confuse stock EVO top end with an EVO with some cams. They fix that completely.

That turbo starts to run out of gas around 5500rpm to 6000rpm. By redline it's running around 17psi to 18psi.

No it doesnt. Its runs out of steam around 6500-6700, where boost falls to 19psi. It will sustain that up to 7500+ and the car still makes pretty good power up past 7000. Every fast stock turbo EVO revs to around 7300-7500.

Yeah, injectors are next. Then I hope to run into him again.

Haha having owned an Evo with cams I can tell you they pull pretty hard up top, the awd thing is way overrated. My Evo's redline was set at 8200rpm, but I had the valves, springs etc. They only drop in psi up top if they are not reflashed or your not running a boost controller. My wife actually ran an Evo 9 this weekend in her Z06 and got beat, not by much she satrted to catch him by the 1/4 mile mark and shes on some bald tires :) But they are fast, peolpe underestimate them a lot IMO.

Its a great feature when combined with traction. I usually build around 15-18 lbs of boost off the line when im on slicks, it all varies tho as to where the stutterbox is activated i set mine to 6500 rpms.

yeah, all new evos come with it. i guess its called launch control. first time my buddy did it i thought he was bounching it off the limiter but i guess it will hold that rpm till you drop the clutch. its a neat little feature. still a good race.

guess 2 steps in little turbo 4's dont sound as good as ones in v8's.
should have made it when the 2 step engaged it raised a pink flag and hazards would start flashing. would be more appropriate.

Sorry for the miss information then. My buddies 03 EVO starts loosing boost around 5500rpm and is around 17psi by redline. Seems to be inline with that turbo on a WRX also. But you would know better then I since you have one. :)

Its cool. Your friend probably has a very bad boost leak to be causing that taper that early.

03-04 evos had a 9.8 exhaust housing no the larger 10.5 or the RS and all 05 Evo's (yes it make a huge diffrance)

I reved my stock cam evo to 8k (held 25 psi) and made 400whp on the stock turbo, with my 37r i took it to 8500 rpm with stock internals and valvetrain at 32psi, it walked a maggie GTO and a Cammed WS6 on a 150 shot.

They can be fast but be prepared to spend alot of money to get them there andeven more to keep them running, tranny's and clutches get expensive quick.

i raced a pretty heavily modded Evo from a 20 roll. had his ass bad 'til about 65-70 and rolled right by me like i had an anchor draggin' out back. He is said to be running close to 500 hp on motor and a 100 shot. he didn't get his boost up when we went so it took him a little bit to catch up. Then he made some smart ass comment about"Nice Cavalier" I gave him the bird and told him to fuck off. It would have been one thing if he hadn't been a dick 'cause it was a fast car but after that i had no respect for the guy. Car yes but not him. ~cole~

I hate people like that. It gives everyone with "said" car a bad name. 100 shot is pretty big for an Evo, most run 50-75 shots.

we have a few guys around here with some pretty nasty evo's and sti's. ive had my butt handed to me a few times by them and i still come back for more. its all in good fun. they are pretty cool about it though too.

Well the Evo went to the track last and ran a 12.2@113 and then a 12.3@114. Said he was having problems with the boost. Something along the lines of it was cold out so the meth was not working.
When he ran me he "says" he was at 31 psi, but last night he was only running 26.

holy shit both of you are fast! i was surprised to see the EVO just take off after you started reeling him in. i was also surprised when i saw your launches. at first i thought "oh great this is going to be a slaughter..." but i was amazed to see you weren't THAT far behind from the dig! good job! you win some and you lose some, but that's what makes it fun! keep up the great work!
