Do you guys like when the Camaro letters are illuminated? Or is it just too much?

you need to take care of that light bleeding through the edges....it would look much nicer :)

here is mine before I installed it. I got mine illuminated with blue LEDs and I couldn't be happier! It looks like the mount was made specifically for my head unit. I was worried that there would be too much of a gap and would possibly show the metal mounting sleeve w/o the plastic OEM trim ring installed, but the hole made in the aluminum plate was just the perfect size! I also made sure there was no light bleeding from the light bar, so the ONLY thing that illuminates is the lettering. These are pics before I installed it. I have it installed right now but I don't have my light bar wired up yet. I will be wiring up my LED's to my remote turn on lead though instead of my dimmer, as I don't drive the car much at night. This way the LED's will light up when I turn the radio on, not to mention that my head unit has the exact same color blue for it's lighting.....so it should look amazing. I already have a relay wired up from when I originally installed my system (using my head unit's remote turn on as the trigger), as I have multiple components turning on with my head unit and I didn't want to overload my head unit's remote turn on, so I did this. I will be wiring my LED's into this.....

I do a lot of highway at night, and I blackout everything. I would hate to have that thing glaring at me for hours on end up and down I-45. I'd put it on a switch, at least.

do any of u have a plain black one? no lettering?

edit: would like it to be on a camaro, because im not sure if i want it to say camaro on the humount and then camaro above that on the little plate beside the traction control

I actually like the bleeding light, it matches my H/U. As far as on top of the mount, that's just the glare off the plastic. It's really not that bright at night either especially with the reverse glow gauges staring me in the face. :)

haha NO. it would prob cost waaay extra. but most likely they wouldnt even do it. just get the reg one put in professionally if you want, then swap em out. its really not that hard. just a power wire (sent mine to traction control switch), and a ground. you need to cut a little plastic tab that the original used to stop at. thats it..........

His is from the same place (Humount), and they all have an aluminum face the black ones are just textured on the front side to make them look a little more OEM.

i had to grind the bottom of mine mount to make it fit my alpine head unit, wasnt to happy about that. Because the old alpines swung out and the new one, at least my model which is 9856 i believe, flips down and with the tiny buttons on the bottom of the HU, it wouldnt clear the bracket, so i had to grind the bottom and it kinda looks like crap now since its not longer black but silver on the bottom. Im gonna have to paint the bottom and sand it a bit.

Clarification, the HU fits perfectly inside, but when you go to eject a cd, it wouldnt flip down enough because the buttons hit the bottom of the mount.

If the power wire for the illumination is sent to the orange wire in the HU wiring harness the lights will come on/off and dim along with the rest of the dash lights.

just isolate the light bar with something.....wrap electrical tape or something around the whole light bar to keep the light from shining through the light bar plastic.
