The sound I'm getting isn't that bad from my 2007 monte stock system (4speakers) not the upgrade thats avail.)) but I'm interested in knowing if it's possible to add and aftermarket amp. without changing the head unit..The unit has 6 cd changer and xm built in plus the stearing wheel controls and I think it fine. Just would like to slightly increase volume and more so increase the quaility of the sound. If need I'm willing to change out the speakers.

Of course it's possible - were you looking how to go about doing it?

You can keep stock speakers if you desire... just make sure your amp will perform best at their impedances and look for any mixed impedances, etc..

Sure is possible. You need to purchase a few things if you plan on doing it yourself:

- A line output converter. This converts the speaker wire signal output of your deck to RCA level. A good quality LOC (NE-774V) can be found here: http://www.davidnavone.com/adaptor_products.htm
- You are also going to need wiring harness adapters if you don't want to be cutting into your factory wiring. You are going to need two of them, one to adapt the female plug output from the back of your factory radio to raw wires. (power, speaker, antenna, etc.|) The other adapter you are going to need will convert raw speaker wire to a female plug where your factory wire harness (male plug) will plug into. So to put it simply:

Heres a few links for the parts:
NE-774V: http://www.davidnavone.com/adaptor_products.htm
Metra 71-2003-1: http://www.shipsound.com/product_info.php?products_id=102067
Metra GMRC-01: http://www.shipsound.com/product_info.php?products_id=102557

Then install tha amplifier as normal. i suggest using Knukonceptz.com wiring, as it seems to be the best quality wiring for the price. Here's a link to their 4 channel amplifier kit: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KOL-AK8

So, the wiring: $25.00 and the adaptors: $130.00. So for the cost of the amp plus approximately $150 is your total cost. Hope this helped.

i would definitely look into upgrading the speakers with the addition of an amp. stock speakers are alright, but even in 2007 models, mid-range aftermarkets will sound better amplified. just my .02 of course.
