Well, after some time of playing around, we wound up building a twin kit with a few tricks in it. Its an LS2 stock bottom end for now with afr 225's and a small camshaft. The camshaft is not 200% optimal for the turbos, but does great with the amount of boost on the car right now. If we build a high hp motor later, then maybe we will change it again. We will see. The boost comes in pretty quick and carries quit nicely. The boost hits about 8.8-9 psi in the middle and drops down to about 7.6 on the top end. Enjoy.
No, its not flywheel either. :)

nice numbers. do ls2's handle that kind of boost well? is it still reliable?

ITs ok, with the heads, the compression came down some, but still in the 10's. You would have to be more conservative with stock stuff on it.

LOL I have numbers from my wifes car on a dynopack. They are not accurate at all. We tested on a dynojet at HiTech motorsport's and then on a dyno pack no changes to the car at all and the two dynos we're way off. In the end the numbers from the dynopack we're 25-30% different. with the dynopack reading way way too high.

Thats because you are meassuring in two different ways from dyno to dyno. Dynapack meassures TQ, DJ meassures acceleration rates on a drum. When you do that, its a giant flywheel and when you tune on loaded dynos, you get less of a result on a dyno with no load. Why? Because on a DJ you need to lean it out and add the timing back in it to get the same results. What does that mean? Bad news for the street when you are done. Turbos car dont survive well on the street sometimes with all that timing and lean AFR's. Take some time to visit and few dynos and see the difference.

I do my base tunes on a dyno and then go to the track for the final A/F and the real world conditions. No dyno is in any way going to be accuarate. Take it to the track and see what your tune looks like after that. According to the dynopack my wifes car has 535 rwhp and 656 rwtq. But however on a dynojet the car only puts 505rwhp and 541rwtq locked on both dynos. Now at the track it runs 11.55's at 121. Which is closer to the numbers from the dynojet. So in reality a dyno is a good tuning tool not a fact anyways.

See, now you talk about how a dyno is not a good base to look upon for facts. Which is fine, I would say the same. But where does everyone get that a DJ is the standard? There are way too many ways to calculate track times. What about a mustang dyno? How do you know that those numbers are more accurate for the track times you run?
What about the guys that build a motor in a motor shop and have it put on the engine dyno. Guys makes X amount of hp and runs X times. Guy thinks thats about right for his hp. What then?

I am not saying that its the standard but thats what most shops have to compare to. It's just another tuning tool.

Rick, just to put the prick swinger to rest, what does a stock GTO put out on your dyno?
Very nice results either way.

depending on how well it was taken care of, 340-360 tops. I saw one do 325 once, but it needed some work. :)
Let me add something real quick. This car with the turbos on it orginally put out about 430hp after we did hte heads and cam to it. Granted it was to lower the compression alittle and set it up for the turbos, but this still shows the gain with the twin kit we added to the car. Hope this helps some more.

Rick,
Is this the same unit that was at Sp***m******t in San Jose a couple of years ago? If so I found it to be very similar in numbers to the dynojets in the area. I kinda recall I still have a graph around here of one of my 383 LT1s on it.

Not the same unit. This unit is a 4000 model. Paul wound up leaving there and took the dyno with him.

I believe it has already been prooven that Rick's dynopack is with in 5-10 WHP of the other DJ's in the area.
That's some real nice numbers Rick. These are some great results for your own twin turbo design/build and it was a really clean looking install. With the right bottem end, this kit will make massive power.
