Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - sbc in place of an lt1??

i found a nice 93 t/a roller and was wondering how hard it would be to drop a carbed 355 and 700r4 into it? i plan on putting a 383 lt1 in at some point but for now id like to be able to drive it around and i happen to have a gen1 drivetrain for it. will a highrise manifold and carb fit under the stock hood?
