I give one vote for the Elemental Designs sub! They even have a package for it with Subthump. Saves you a little bit of cash too.

My ED sub hit clean and hard when I want it to.

diamond has a good high power 10". Don't know if it is good for the stealthbox, but I know it and my two 12"s from them are incredibly well built, much better then JL.

Best bang for the buck is the Type-R. But, of course it isnt the "best" you can get... that would cost more. :)

Type R isn't bad at all. I guess if you want to be heard from 2 blocks away you'll want something better though. With the hatch in these cars you realy don't need much power back there to sound good.

Not sure what price range your looking at, but I like the specs on the planet audio "Big Bang" 10

800W max

400W

12Hz-350Hz

92 dB @ 1 watt/ 1meter

Dual 2 Ohm

100 Oz

6-5/8”

3”

12 Hz down low should be nice. :judge:

I have owned a Type R and IDQ10 and currently own a CDT Audio HD1020....all of them installed in the same ~0.50ft³ custom fiberglass "stealth" box.

I like my CDT Audio the best out of all of them and the Type R the worst of the three. I am more of a SQ guy over SPL though, but my CDT Audio sub gets plenty loud for my tastes. I even have the box STUFFED full of poly to keep the bass nice and tight. I could take some poly out to make it louder but I love the way it sounds right now.

Depends on how much you got them for.

$2.50.. and anothe 29.99 for shipping

dragonrage
02-16-2007, 10:43 PM
Yes, most of their subs would be good for that price. As long as they're not 2mm Xmax pieces or something. If they are MA101XQ's, they are rated for 10mm of Xmax, so they should be fine for the price.

presto_z
02-16-2007, 11:14 PM
they are MA100XE.. i usually only deal with nice high quality stuff.. but there was only like 2 mins left and the high bid was like 16 cents... so i just through down 2.50 thinkin i wasnt gonna win um.. but i did.. ill prolly just blow these in 2 months and get some nice JL's..

i also have 2 alpine type E's from a few years back.. along with 2 MMATS competition subs (blew one)... i really dont know why i have so many subs and i dont even have a system in this car... those two mmats really hit in my old camaro till i blew one

best you can get hands down is boston acoustics, THEY ARE A LOT OF MONEY THOUGH. if you want good sounding bass and surround style stereo setup this is what I would go with.

im not kidding about the boston acoustics, again they cost a lot, but if your gonna build a stereo system with a 10 they will really give you great sound. Go to any car stereo place and demo them. this is the model your looking for (Boston Acoustics SPG555-4) up to 1000Watts on a 10, try to find a 10 better than this.

Thats just a few from one site. Prices on that site are higher than most of the other internet retailers, they can be found cheaper at other places. I just used that site for ease of linking :)

First of all I have never even heard of RE... They look to be built of cheap compounds and are 1000w Peak. The Jls are ok, the second one might fit in the small area that is in question. Ask any professional stereo installer about the sound and quality of all the afore mentioned subs and you will find that the hands down choice will be BOSTON ACOUSTICS. Unless a cheap price is your main goal when looking at subs.

fil131
03-14-2007, 09:34 PM
dragonrages post only solidifies my banter on the Boston Acoustic. Yes it is pricey but for around $400 dollars for the best bass 10 anywhere and being able to fix it if needed and 1000W rms power, you can put as much or as little amps to this and get exactly the amount of bass you want.

I am not a seller of this sub, just answering the question at hand.

The best 10 for a small space like the camaro where the changer or the spare would be located is a BOSTON ACOUSTICS spg-555 2 Ohm or 4ohm.

you could even get 2 and put one on each side...lol

Look to amazon for the $399 price tag.

I'd sure like to try one of those SPG-555s. mmm.

I'd take RE over JL. And I wouldn't ask a professional installer about brands. Ever. Professional installers usually either work through exclusive dealers or they are their own dealers, and they just use products from the few companies involved with them. I'd trust the internet over any installer. (Though finding one post on some random forum is now what I mean by "the internet" - I mean a reasonably large amount of people on a reputable forum like caraudio.com or diymobileaudio.com)

well the pro installers I have as buddies also have their own personal recording studios and a vast knowledge of whats out there.

I wasnt saying to go ask a pro with ties to a few companies who are more interested in the size of their wallet than to give good quality sound advice.

Unlikely. Highly unlikely. They probably know the really high profile names and not much else.
