Is this a two or four bolt block hopefully its a 2 their stronger and you can still get it played to a 4, i would run a set of AFR's, what do you plan to do with this motor? Race, street, or street and strip???

First off I would forget the tunnel ram idea . You can get that kind of HP out of a 400... but you are going to need some good heads. I would use AFR's. Also save your dollars for some good forged pistons. TRW's will work fine. Are you looking to use stock 5.565 or 5.7 rods? What type of compression and gas are you looking to run. What kind of cam(roller, flat tappet, solid, hyd), Carb and headers are budgeted.

AFR 210s, Super Vic, 850cfm mechanical secondary carb, 24x/24x .600/.600 solid roller, 10.5:1. You'll need a nice valvetrain and a decent bottom end but 500hp would be a given.

I have a set of 215cc dart heads on my 400 and like them.

AFR 225s, weiand intake, demon carb, 10.5 to 1 compression, and youd probably be close. ive seen a 383 make 541 HP N/A running that same setup.

We just built one with the set up your looking for, stock crank, arp rod bolts, small solid roller 232-236 @.050 with .608 lift at the valve, both intake and exhaust. JE forged pistons, 11 to 1 C/R, AFR 227's, Vic Jr manifold, 850 cfm carb, 550 HP all day no worries.

If you have any questions give me a call.
