I have a question to post about my choice of engines. The most available engine is a standard 350 SBC , but in my case I think an engine with less torque and quicker revving would work better. I know a 302 would be perfect but costly. I am thinking a 327 may be a good compromise. What are your experiences using a 327? If any of you have a link to building a 302 could you post it as well? I would like to end the R&R engine & transmission game I have been playing.. :corn:

If you want a 302 you can get a l99 from a 94-96 caprice classic it looks like a lt1 but has 265 C.I. not 350 C.I. you will need the crank and rods from this engine and use a late 1 peace seal 350 block and stock pistons this will give you the 3" stroke and 4" bore you need to get 302 C.I. the rods in a l99 are 5.94" to make up for the shorter stroke as the 350 will have a stock rod length of 5.7" .

Ya could try going with tha 283chevy, but idk bout gittin much more than 300 hp outta it. Ya could git a 350 and destroke it to a 327 since they are tha same engines except tha stroke.

a 350" or 377" would more than rev quick enough for whatever you're trying to do and with everything sitting on the shelf.

Thats right, i forgot about the destroked 377 sbc. (400 sb with a 350 stroke.) Big horsepower and quick reving.

the old shorter stroke = quicker revving doesn't really hold true anymore. The bigger the cubes the more the HP/torque will pick up at a lower more usable rpm. Might as well build the biggest ci that you can and have at it.

yea, build a 406 or 383, more hp, and useable torque, it will make for a faster car
