found it on the boyfriend's family's property in an old barn that's half fallen down. it was still bolted to a crate, even though it's rusted some. think it's salvageable though - if we can figure out what it is. the distributor is at the back, so we're pretty sure it's a BBC. it may not be for all i know though - just something worth checking out. anyway, here's a couple of pics:

only thing about it is i've never seen a motor have that much of the bellhousing for the tranny made onto it.

any insight out there?

Its a cool find... but i dont see any reason for even trying to save it.. getting it apart will be hell.. and youll probaly find every cylinder will be warped beyond fixing. and if it sat upright to get water in it who knows what ice could have done inside of it?? That goes for any motor not just a big block. Unless it has some kind of value to you id leave it where it sits. Its junk in my eyes.. i have and still find stuff like that all the time at my property and freinds. all it shws me is that family has turned wrenches hahaha
you would have a healthy bill to get that block usable if its not ruined already :judge: thers much better stuff out there than that!

If its date coded to a rare car it may be worth something but probably not much considering the condition

If it's a 59 thru 64 olds block with a 4 1/8 bore then it's a 394 (4.13 bore x 3.69 stroke). If it's a 65 thru 67 olds block then it's a 425 (4.13 bore x 3.98 stroke).
