I need to set my motor back to true TDC. I know that #1 piston comes up to the top and that one time isn't true top dead center. I can't remember how to figure it out. I know I can look at my rockers for #1 and tell by the intake & exhaust positions. Could someone tell me what they need to be at for TDC. I've got to take my intake off and have a little work done to it and I want to make sure I get everything right when I reinstall it.

Thanks,

Any time the piston is at the top it is considered TDC. It is either at the top of the exhaust stroke ot the top of the compression stroke. Sounds like you want it at the top of the compression stroke to properly time the distributor though. Line the timing mark on the balancer up with the pointer and rock the crank back and forth while watching the rocker arms on the #1 cyl. If they are both moving when you move the crank, it is at the top of the exhaust stroke. If they don't move, it is the top of compression.

just take off the distributor cap and see where the rotor is pointing, make a mark where its poitning and when your done, you just drop it back in so the rotor lines up with the mark you made. thats the easiest way.
