Well I took off the passenger sail panel today and saw a bigass DELCO ELECTRIONICS audio thing looked like a amp with about 15-20 wires going into it.. well I ripped it out to say the least (leaned away from it breaking it into pieces almost lol) also got those crap little speakers in the back out won't be needin them..
any other crap I can remove.. Im running alpine components up front, Type-S alpine in the sails and 2x 12's in the back

no, no monsoon back then, but even the monsoon system uses a Delco amp. Infact, the entire monsoon system is made by Delco. It's my understanding that Monsoon just designs the system, and provides the specs to GM, who then builds the actual components.

Even though it wasn't called a Monsoon system, the design was quite similar. It was a 10 speaker system with an external amp that took speaker-level input from the head unit. As you found, the amp is physically smaller (it's also less powerful) and it was mounted in the quarter panel below the right sail panel speaker rather than in front of the spare tire like the Monsoon. It was only available in Firebirds - the upscale system in Camaros was the Bose.
