Stereo & Electronics - Monsoon Q

I was just reading in the Monsoon FAQ that the cars that did not come with factory 12disc still came with all the wiring. My car orginally did not come with the 12 disc but I am wanting to buy a factory unit and install it. My question is to get the changer to work will I have to buy a headunit that orginally came with the 12 disc or will it work with my current headunit. If it will work with my current unit how will I be able to change CD's from the headunit. I tried using search but it kept saying that there was a data base error.

If you buy a 12 disc factory changer everything will work fine. You do not need another head unit, they are the same as optioned ones.

Only problem you will face is that the factory 12 disc changer mounting bracket is tac welded in. You will have to buy the bracket and drill it in.

As far as the controls...all the head unit and steering wheel controls work the same for the changer as they do for the single CD in the head unit. You press the CD/Aux (Camaro) or CD/Play (Firebird) button once to switch to the head unit's single CD, then press again to switch to the external changer.
