Just got done swapping the driver's side stock Monsoon midbass and tweeter with a Type R midbass and tweeter. Now, there is absolutely no high-end stuff coming from the driver's side. With the volume at a normal listening level, I have to literally stick my ear on the tweeter cover to hear anything at all. Midbass sounds fine, but the only higs are coming from the passenger side. Don't really want to have to swap the stock tweeter back in, but I might wind up doing that.

Any thoughts or ideas? All connections are good, phase is correct, etc etc.

Did you use the crossover that came with your set?

did you hook up the crossover?
did you go off the monsoon( if you have one)
if you went off the monsoon you have to not hook up the cross over i believe.
because i thinkt the wires for the midbass are filtered.( no highs)

I believe they are full signals....the tweeter has the capacitor AT the tweeter -- so the signal is not filtered... that's why I was wondering maybe they blew or something if there is no crossover... should always use the crossover that came with your set anyway.

It's the Monsoon system.

I left the little board (what I thought was a capacitor deal controlling frequency regulation for the tweeter) connected to the tweeter wiring, and hooked up the Type R tweeter to the wires coming off of the board - the only thing that changed was the tweeter itself, none of the stock wiring or electrical parts.

I didn't use the component crossover because the midbass and tweeter both have their own independent wiring - I believe I read the tweet is powered by the deck, and the midbass by the Monsoon amp - so I didn't see any reason to use the crossover, nor any way to use it even if I wanted to (since the source is coming from two different locations and the crossover only has one input).

Should I run the wires from the midbass to the crossover, run the midbass and tweeter off of that, and just abandon the stock tweeter wiring? Didn't really have time to experiment tonight because it got dark before I was halfway done, and getting the door panel on is a pain in the ass (why the hell couldn't have have used a normal method, instead of 3 hidden screws and the weird little j-hooks), but it seems that would be the next logical step.

That's what I would try... I do not know what the cap setup looks like for the tweeter actually...

I tapped into the tweeter and woofer at the monsoon amp connector and mounted the crossovers by the spare tire. I tossed the monsoon amp and the highs are powered by an amp I bought. I still have the color codes used if anyone is interested.

Played around with the fade and balance today, and I'm pretty much getting absolutely no output from the driver's side speakers - exactly what I'd expect from 4 ohm speakers running off an am amp that is supposed to be at 2 ohms.

Not sure if I want to try the crossover thing at this point, or just wire the Monsoon speakers back up, since I don't feel like rewiring everything to put a 4 channel amp in.
