the "plug n play harness" is only needed for "boost a pump" applications, right? i did the racetronix swap, and was curious if i was required to install the harness for some other reason.

edit: i see the o2 looking plug should be plugged into the "factory harness", is that on top of the tank, i cant remember?

the plug n play harness that came with mine had larger gauge wire in it for the power lead, less chance of current drain, which would cause the pump to create less psi.

the harness is super easy to install. It goes to the alternator and gives the pump a strong sorce of power. Less of a chance of power loss. and it makes it super easy to install a BAP . just install the wire harness. its easy.

yeah i was all worried the other day when i installed my kit. OMG i can't believe how easy the harness was to install. The hardest part of the WHOLE install was cutting the whole in my hatch just because i was worried of hitting a line. After that it was a CAKE walk... install the harness though as said above it helps keep constant high voltage and really helps at upper RPM's..

i figured the plug was on top of the tank. that sucks because i dropped the tank while replacing the rear, and just forgot to do the harness. now its all back up in there and it looks like im gonna have to cut an access panel. unless theres some way i can locate and get to that plug from under the car??

I'm in your situation right now by installing a 717LS1hotwire kit to my factory pump. I'm trying to drop the tank down enough to get to the plug so maybe in a few hours I'll be able to offer some help.

you dont have to do the hotwire kit but it will make a big difference and supply direct voltage over a thicker gauge wire to the pump which will make it run more consistent and not drop off from the lower voltage supplied from the pcm. after the harness is in the pcm signal is used to control the relay from the hot wire kit which then lets the full voltage go to the pump.

is that plug accessable from under the car with the tank in the car?

the car runs without my harness, obviously i wont be putting much rpm to a brand new motor, so i'll clean it up, drive it home as is, and cut an access panel when i get time in the coming weeks. the voltage shouldnt be an issue b/c i dont plan to rev it much if at all in the coming weeks.
